Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that brings into account many different fighting techniques and skills. MMA incorporates striking such as Muay Thai and submission grappling and ground fighting such as in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Of equal importance are fighting techniques from the clinch and takedowns and takedown defense with wrestling.

At Contemporary Martial Arts, our striking background comes from Sport Karate, Kyokushin Karate, & Muay Thai.  We train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Master Adam Singer and Master Rory Singer from The HardCore Gym in Athens, Georgia.  Master Adam and Master Rory are black belts under Roberto Traven.(Roberto “Spider” Traven is a mixed martial arts fighter whose fighting style is based in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Wrestling.  Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1968, Traven began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 16. He earned his black belt in only 4 years of training. Traven was one of the early UFC competitors, fighting in UFC 11 vs. Dave Berry and in UFC 34 vs. Frank Mir.  Traven was the 1999 Abu Dhabi open class champion and has taken first place twice in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
